Jaguar Mate by SA Welsh
Reviewed by Cinderella

Three letters to show what I thought WOW!! SA Welsh has delivered an exceptional story in Jaguar Mate.  I read a great deal of supernatural stories and I have to tell you I so cannot wait until the next in this series, SA Welsh has caught me hook line and sinker. As the story opens I could not help but feel for Jayden and want to help him and wonder how he would react after the ordeal. SA Welsh takes us on a journey with Jayden and Kyle and it really did not end so I always have the satisfaction in knowing I may see them again at a later date.  Highly recommended for anyone loving were animals and needing a quick read.

The Heart of Texas by RJ Scott
Reviewed by Cinderella

The Heart of Texas is an all inspiring read.  RJ Scott has a brilliant mind and a swift hand in writing. I have never read anything quite of this caliper in this genre. It has so many facets and intrigue that is was very difficult to put down.  From the first line to the last the story flowed so flawlessly and the characters just jumped off the page.  As Riley goes throughout the story all his plans take on their own identity and change within a matter of seconds.  This book had a mystic shadow surrounding all of the characters. Secrets are very dangerous to keep and sometimes even more dangerous to reveal.  RJ Scott has delivered a very solid story, even at 400 plus pages the books was probably quicker to read than some shorter books because it non-stop involvement.

If you haven’t read The Heart of Texas I recommend getting it now if you have it in your TBR pile move it to the top of the list you won’t be sorry!

Book Description: Riley Hayes, the playboy of the Hayes family, is a young man who seems to have it all: money, a career he loves, and his pick of beautiful women. His father, CEO of HayesOil, passes control of the corporation to his two sons; but a stipulation is attached to Riley’s portion. Concerned about Riley’s lack of maturity, his father requires that Riley marry and stay married for one year to someone he loves. Angered by the requirement, Riley seeks a means of vengeance on his family: blackmailing Jack Campbell into marrying him “for love” suits Riley’s purpose. There is no mention in his father’s documents that the marriage had to be with a woman. And Jack Campbell is the son of Riley Senior’s arch rival.

Riley marries Jack. Abruptly, his entire world is turned inside out. Riley hadn’t counted on the fact that Jack Campbell, quiet and unassuming rancher, is a force of nature in his own right. This is a story of the struggle for power, murder and deceit, lust and love, the sprawling life of a rancher and the whirlwind existence of a playboy. But under and through it all, as Riley learns over the months, this is a tale about family and everything that that word means.

Liaison: Soul Bond Book 1 by Ambrielle Kirk
Reviewed by Sasha

Liaison: Soul Bound Book One I could feel the connection and passion that both characters held for one another. I could also sense the conflict that was tearing Leona apart between Leona and her uncle, as well as the conflict between Carrick and his father. The power struggle of control was very evident in this story. With Leona and Carrick it was to have control of their own lives and destiny that both longed for. Which I am happy to say that through courage and strength both Carrick and Leona achieve.
Liaison is the first book that Kirk has written for her Soul Bound anthology (series) and if this book is just the beginning I can only imagine what lies ahead. This story is an easy read that flows well. The strength and courage that shines through both Leona and Carrick is heartwarming.

Final Encore by Scotty Cade
Reviewed by Kevin

I enjoy finding a book by a first time author.  It can be an adventure, as I have no previous experience with the author to shape my opinion.  This is the place I found myself when reading Final Encore by Scotty Cade.  The book was an enjoyable read.  The main characters Billy and Ian were likable guys, although Billy came across as a little too good to be true.  He seemed to be able to move through life with little to no effort or conflict.  Billy leaves his hometown, where he is surrounded by loving family and working for his father on the family ranch, for Nashville in search of a music career. He immediately finds other work while waiting to be discovered.  The ease with which he finds a job and the coincidences that combine to further his music career are a little too unrealistic in my opinion.  Also, I would have liked to have learned a little more about his family. He seemed to be so close to them, yet they never really made an appearance in the book.

Ian’s circumstances were a little more believable.  Everything he has, he worked for.  My only issues were his source of conflict.  While I could understand to a certain extent, when his history and reasons for the conflict were revealed, I felt cheated.  I didn’t feel that his past problems warranted the reaction he had to them.

Ultimately, I would recommend this book for anyone who is searching for an enjoyable escape from their everyday troubles.  I feel that we will be seeing more from this author in the near future.

Taking a foreman’s job at the Lazy H ranch and not knowing how he will be accepted, Billy decides to fly under the radar and stay as closeted as he can without denying who he really is. It’s immediately confirmed that he made the right decision when he discovers that homophobia is still alive and well in Tennessee.

Then Billy gets his break and meets gorgeous record label executive Ian Dillon. Their worlds collide both professionally and personally, and Billy falls hard. But Ian is still haunted by the mysterious betrayal of his one and only lover, and knowing Billy possesses the power to emotionally destroy him, Ian decides to cut his losses and simply walk away. Love at first sight has never been so much fun to watch/read about as it is in Wooing Master Jones.

Opposites Distract by Stephani Hecht
Part of the Perfect Strangers Collection from ARe
Reviewed by Kathy K.

Short, short story but wow! This is a Valentine romance with so much heart it left mine celebrating.

Once again this is an author whose books are languishing in my TBR. I’ve always heard such good things about Stephani Hecht’s writing that I’d bought a few of her books. Now that I know everything was right on—and I’ve had a taste—I’m going to be indulging: But back to Opposites Distract. J

I think one of the things I love best about this story is that Pryce’s ideas of Mr. Right are completely turned on their head when he sees Clayton and honestly, we may *think* we know who that special someone will be, but the reality always has a surprise or two in store for us. It’s up to us to decide whether or not we can give up the ideal we’ve built in our minds.  Pryce, thankfully, doesn’t waste a moment.

Clayton’s reaction, however, is another story altogether and really it’s hard to blame him. Part of it is, I believe, his self-image; but the rest is very likely due to his past experiences. Finding love can often be anything but easy…but then we’re more likely to appreciate it when the real thing comes along. And for Clayton and Pryce, this is the real thing.

One thing that intrigued me is that Pryce—ostensibly nothing more than a party boy—is much more than appearances would lead one to believe. Of course all you have to do is remember that he has responsibilities that he is living up to…and sometimes we are all too quick to judge based on appearances alone.

So not only is Opposites Distract a charming and very romantic tale wonderfully suited for Valentine’s Day, but it’s got a lesson there that is one we can never hear too much. And for that I heartily recommend this latest from Stephani Hecht.  Sweet and smart…excellent combination!

Book Description: Sometimes your heart doesn’t know what’s best for you…

Pryce has always been attracted to a certain type of man. What he’s looking for in Mr. Right is someone like him; fun, spontaneous and full of life. What he doesn’t want is a stuffy, boring man who only cares about being an activist and making the world a better place. But that doesn’t stop Pryce from falling for a dark-haired stranger when they bump into each other at the local GBLT center.

Clayton needs to stay focused on school and work. He doesn’t have room in his life for distractions. So when a cute, carefree blond makes a move on him, Clayton turns the guy down flat. But walking away turns out to be harder than he thinks. Clayton, driven to distraction, can’t get Pryce out of his mind.

Will Clayton be able to push aside his doubts long enough to give love, and Pryce, a chance?

Anything Goes Book 1: Lust & Fae by Joyee Flynn
Reviewed by Theresa

I love paranormal romances and Joyee Flynn’s are among my favorites. Lust and Fae is the first in a new series, Anything Goes, and it starts off with a bang.

Ms. Flynn weaves an erotically intriguing tale with the creation of lust demons and Gabe the virgin Fae. I’m a sucker for a man in distress and his savior and Gabe and Cal are exactly that. Cal is a hundreds-of-years–old, lonely lust demon and when he meets Gabe, he develops some very protective feelings he hasn’t experienced before.  This leads to romance with moments of humor that drew me in.

Lust and Fae delves into an area that some might find unrealistic or disturbing but I have found I really enjoy and actively look for similar stories. In fear of giving too much of the story away, I am just going to say that Lust and Fae is a paranormal romance with a twist that I encourage any paranormal fan to read.

Book Description: Cal has been alone all his life. After all, lust demons aren’t known for their ability to fall in love. For centuries, he’s used his gifts to help others find the happy ending he felt he would never have. When a virgin fae, Gabe, walks into his club, Cal is immediately struck by the little sprite’s good looks. Knowing the fae’s natural magnetism could ignite a riot, Cal immediately rushes Gabe out of the club, only to find out he was sent to be Cal’s mate. But Gabe is in trouble. The evil halfers seek fae essence to become human. Knowing Gabe is in danger sets off every protective instinct within Cal. Can a lust demon defy convention and find his happy ending with an innocent fae?

Sugarplum #5: Just Wink by Bryl R. Tyne
Reviewed by Kathy K.

Just going by the title I had completely different expectations for this story. The fact that it was written by one of my favourite authors—Bryl Tyne—assured me that regardless of how it came about, it was going to be one that I enjoyed.  Not only did I really like it, but I was utterly charmed by Parker and Jeremy.

Parker is having a very difficult time with his not-going-anywhere career and his spirits are extremely low. With Christmas right around the corner, which can be a very stressful time anyway, it doesn’t help that he feels that he’s letting his husband down. I also get the feeling that Parker is one of those who tend to brood. Add all these elements together and you’ve got a man who’s not only on the edge but on the verge of going over.

Enter Jeremy. A quieter person I don’t think I’ve ever come across, but his love and support for Parker flows from the pages. I love that his first action is to enfold Parker with all that he feels for his love. He also understands his man and knows just what to do to bring him back to level ground. The scene between them is not only very sexy but heartwarming to the core.

Sugarplum: Just Wink is a story filled not only with the magic of the season, but also the beauty of total and all-encompassing love. In conjunction with the attendant strength, tenderness and calmness of Jeremy’s devotion, there was Parker’s reaction. The emotions between the two men are truly indicative of the power their feelings bring forth. And who knew that the influence of just a wink was so all-encompassing?

Bryl Tyne of course, and now so do I.  Beautiful.

*

Book Description: How hard could donning a Christmassy green Speedo and pretending for thirty seconds to savor a giant candy cane be, anyway? Granted, Parker abhors candy canes and his co-actor is a lecherous Santa wannabe with grubby paws, but can’t the man just call the commercial a rap, take his money, and go home to his husband for the holidays?

Is that too much to ask?

Is it too much to ask Parker to be home on time when it’s his night to cook?

Never fear, his husband Jeremy’s got the solution. A new bedroom technique designed to encourage creativity may bring about the visualization skills Parker needs to save his acting career and his marriage.

“What haven’t I made clear? Desire. Ecstasy. Satisfaction. In that order!”

Friday Night Jamie by Bren Christopher
Reviewed by Theresa

Bren Christopher has written a romantic suspense that kept me so involved I didn’t put the book down until I hit the last word and then I still didn’t want to put it down. Not because the author left me hanging, but because I had become so attached to the characters I just wasn’t ready to let them go. I fell in love with both Jamie and Matt. Jamie has this image of how he wants his life and who he wants in it so it isn’t easy to let that image go. Matt is a man who knows what he wants and isn’t afraid to go after Jamie and then protect him, even if he has to protect Jamie from himself.

Friday Night Jamie was my introduction to author Bren Christopher and I sincerely hope this title won’t be my last.

*

Book Description: Jamie is an accountant who lives by a strict schedule: every day is planned; the future is predictable. And that schedule includes one night a week when he allows himself to blow off steam at a gay dance club in the City. One Friday night he gets more than he bargained for when he meets Matt, an out of work stranger with long dark hair and rough hands. The attraction is undeniable but Matt does not fit Jamie’s idea of the perfect man to share his carefully ordered life.

Instead, Jamie longs for a date with his dream man: handsome, sophisticated Keith, a successful Vice President at his prestigious New York accounting firm, a man on his way up.

But everything changes when Jamie discovers a suspicious error in one of his accounts. Suddenly, he finds himself on the run from both the mob and the FBI — and the only man who can help him is the tall, dark-haired stranger he rejected. Because Matt is not who he seems — and neither is Keith.

Ink Spots by Lissa Matthews
Reviewed by Eve

Ink Spots blew my socks off. The chemistry between Mandi and Jaz jumps off the page, er, screen. Ms. Matthews has created characters that are deliciously layered. Jaz is a hulking, bald, tattooed ex-con who turns to tongue-tied mush when he’s finally alone with the woman he’s had a crush on for months. Totally butch, he’s so tender when it comes to Mandi that I started crushing on him.

Mandi is bold and shy in turn and the author pulls it off. In Ink Spots, appearances are deceiving and I loved how that theme wove through the book. The sex is practically non-stop but so creative and loving, the book never strayed into repetitive porn-land.

The only thing that made my knee jerk was the conspicuous absence of condoms. Yes it’s fantasy but the hero is a tattoo artist. He’s in daily contact with other people’s blood. ‘Nuf said.

The third book revolving around a group of built, sexy and heavily inked friends, Ink Spots stands well on its own. It’s one of those books I just couldn’t put down.

*

Eve

*

*

Book Description: By night, Mandi is a waitress in her best friend’s adult entertainment club, complete with long raven hair and bright blue eyes. By day, she’s a boutique jewelry maker with a flair for the occasional naughty design. She’s shy, quiet, a definitive Plain Jane—and completely in lust with the one man who wouldn’t ever be interested in her. He’s big, menacing, and inspires every one of her dirty girl desires. If birthday wishes came true, he would be hers.

Tattoo artist. Business owner. Lover of vintage cars. Drummer. Jaz is far from the average guy. Built like a brick wall and inked from head to toe, he can scare the faint of heart with just a look, but faint of heart isn’t what interests him, isn’t what fuels his fantasies and keeps him hard from dawn to dusk. It’s her—the waitress, his sister’s friend, the birthday girl.

Mandi is given the best present ever—Jaz. And she’s got one night to make every wicked thought and erotic dream she’s had about him come true.

Gladiator’s Revenge by Amy Ruttan
Reviewed by Eve

I’m of two minds about Gladiator’s Revenge. I like the premise: two people from different points on the social spectrum fall in love and become instrumental to a notorious event in ancient Rome. I’m a massive history buff so that premise works for me on a lot of levels.

Sadly, what didn’t work for me were the occasional inconsistencies in Gladiator’s Revenge. In one scene, the heroine’s hair and eye color change from dark brown to hazel. Ms. Ruttan got the details of the gladiator’s diet right, but dismisses the fact that these guys were the rock stars of their day, complete with earnings, avid followers and lots of rich women queuing up to have sex with them. I’m afraid I didn’t buy the “denied pleasures of the flesh” line because the hero’s owner believed women weakened gladiators. A marriage bed starts out as large and wooden, and by the time the happy couple wrap things up, it’s narrow.

The second premise of a slave who’s living for revenge, is terrific. Sadly, when our hero is actually close enough to the villain to kill him, that revenge angle has fizzled from the narrative.

I wanted Gladiator’s Revenge to be terrific. For me, it was an average read.

Book Description: Taranis had one thing on his mind since the Romans enslaved him. Revenge. Until he laid eyes on the innocent beauty of Lavina, a daughter of his enemy. Lavina is humiliated by the decadence, greed and violence of Rome. When she meets the gaze of the condemned gladiator across the Circus Maximus, he stirs a deep yearning in her heart, but it is not meant to be. She is destined to marry a man who’s soul is as black as night.

On a whim, Emperor Nero grants Taranis freedom with his choice of a wife. Taranis chooses Lavina, much to the horror of her parents. Only Lavina is not disgusted by this prospect and revels in Taranis’ touch. He finds himself caring for and falling in love with the little Roman.

Yet, a shadow falls on their happiness and soon Lavina will have to choose between her home and her heart.

Steamy Reunion by Jambrea Jo Jones
Reviewed by Kathy K.

I really enjoyed Steamy Reunion by Jambrea Jo Jones; it’s the kind of story where the good guy does win…and it doesn’t even take to the end. It’s also a story about something that many people—okay I did—worry about: the high school reunion…duh, duh, duh duh.

Okay maybe it’s not *that* big a deal, but I do admit to experiencing a certain amount of trepidation heading to my 10, then 25 year reunions…and I didn’t have any romantic interest from back then.  Of course even if I had, my husband would probably put the kibosh on that. *grin*

Any-ways….

Back to the review:  I could certainly relate to Ambrose’s very unpleasant memories of high school. Those years can be some of the worst and toughest to go through, but I could also see, for him, the draw for going to the reunion. Being as hung up on someone as Ambrose was on Noah—and really it wasn’t any surprise once we met said hot stud—is as good a reason as any in my book.

I can also understand his reasons for hiring a “date.”  But from then on, Ms. Jones took me on a wild ride that didn’t go as I had expected, but one that I certainly enjoyed to the utmost.

This isn’t a change-your-life story, but it is fun, sexy and wonderfully entertaining.

Tease is a beautifully crafted love story. Ms. Kelly is a master story teller. Together, that makes Tease one of my absolute favourite books of 2010.

Tease is full of sensual detail and the story is beautiful to read. The author’s voice is melodic, making her work a joy to read and hard to put down. The plot is absorbing and showcases Ms. Kelly’s mastery of English prose.

The story has everything it ought to: theme, subtext, a heroic flaw and a dark moment that made my throat tighten. I loved the conflict and the hero’s growth.

When you’ve got a couple of indulgent and well-earned hours to yourself, buy Tease, curl up with something warm and spicy to drink, tuck a blanket around yourself and let the fantasy unroll.

Suburban Fantasy 3: Will Work For Blood
by Katica Locke

Book three in Katica’s Suburban Fantasy line, Will Work For Blood is fast paced and held my attention from start to finish. I thoroughly enjoyed the subplot of how cultural differences can challenge a burgeoning love. Both male leads are strong, proud men and their approach to working out their differences is terrific. I rooted for them every step of the way.

I loved the parallels the author created in the werewolves’ story. Will Work For Blood flowed well and, by the end, no details were left hanging.

In Will Work For Blood, we see Julian’s back story. It’s terrific. Katica finally reveals this unique and imaginative part of the story, and I found her world building very interesting.

Although Will Work For Blood could be read as a stand alone, I think the series would be best read in sequence. Will there be a fourth? I sure hope so!

Book Description: It’s not easy to make ends meet in a recession, especially when you have an unemployed vampire with a thousand dollar a month blood bill living in your basement. Simon handles the stress as best as he can, but it’s wearing on his and Julian’s relationship. Things seem to turn around when Julian finds a job, but after a while, Simon becomes suspicious of the strange hours and wads of cash Julian brings home. Can a night-watchman really make two thousand a week working only two hours a night?

When Simon discovers the truth, it is a betrayal far worse than he’d ever imagined, and he throws Julian out of his house. A chance encounter with a pack of werewolves forces Simon to seek Julian’s help and to re-examine his feelings, but is it too late to save their relationship?

What A Girl Wants by Selena Robins
Reviewed by Eve

What A Girl Wants reminded me of those Saturday morning Road Runner cartoons. The legs are moving like crazy but you have to wait awhile for him to get going.

Don’t get me wrong—the bones of a great story are there. There’s intrigue, smart and interesting principal characters, and a fabulous tropical locale. But we’re at page thirty-five before we hear, “Something’s wrong with this whole setup,” the first clue that a mystery’s afoot. Before that, it’s all talk, internal monologue and no show. There’s a great scene on an airplane in those first thirty-five pages but we hear about it second hand, long after the fact. By burying the scene, I think the author missed a chance to give the story some punch and humor.

Now if you like a slow build up, What A Girl Wants will be a must-read for you. Unfortunately, I prefer a lean read. I was a little hard pressed to get through the heroine’s maudlin about her mother, and after awhile, I started skipping the repeats where the hero thinks how hot the heroine is, and vice versa.

Ms. Robins has crafted an intelligent, unique plot. For me though, it got buried under stuff that slowed the book down.

Alex, an investigative reporter, grits his teeth when he accepts a joint assignment to Hawaii with Maddie. He’s vowed to never get involved with any woman he can’t walk away from. Maddie falls under the heading of “Look, but don’t touch”. Trouble is, she excels at giving him a hard time—in more ways than one.

Surburban Fantasy 1: The Vampire Next Door
By Katica Locke
Reviewed by Eve

The Vampire Next Door is an intriguing twist on the traditional vampire premise. Principal (human) character Simon Walker is beautifully flawed. He earned my grudging empathy despite his overt prejudices. That’s a difficult combination to make believable and kudos to Ms. Locke for making it work.

Vampire Julian’s sister, Raven, at first blush, seems a simple, brooding, background character. As the story progresses, she emerges as a kick-butt presence and yet another example of the fine stretching of Ms. Locke’s untraditional imagination.

I thought the story flowed well and moved fast. Although the story is complete, there were some issues left up in the air. My tingly-senses are saying sequel! I hope they’re right.

If a quick, interesting and inventive read is your thing, give The Vampire Next Door a try.

BOOK DESCRIPTION: When his handsome new neighbor turns out to be a vampire, Simon has only one choice—to kill him. Or is there another option?

Simon is happy to be an average guy, living an average life in a quiet suburb. Then Julian moves into the house next door. Charming, gorgeous, irresistible, Julian is the man of Simon’s dreams…or perhaps his nightmares. He doesn’t understand why being alone with Julian fills him with unease, or why such an irrational fear would be so exciting. After allowing himself to be seduced, Simon discovers Julian’s secret—Julian is a vampire.

Though Julian swears that he won’t hurt Simon, that he’s not that kind of vampire, Simon can’t see beyond the fangs. Fearing for his life, his choice is simple: kill Julian before Julian can kill him. Of course, that’s easier said than done.

Suburban Fantasy 2: A Visit From The Truth Fairy
By Katica Locke
Reviewed by Eve

Book two in the Suburban Fantasy series, A Visit From The Truth Faerie is another inventive take on traditional vampire lore. Katica Locke kept me interested from beginning to end. The world building is becoming more intriguing and complex in this second book but Ms. Locke introduces it slowly…even I didn’t have trouble keeping up.

There’s great conflict throughout and Simon, the human male lead character, is as flawed as ever. This time around though, he’s working through his prejudices. His growth is slow but terrific to watch. I enjoyed taking that journey alongside him.

A Visit From The Truth Faerie should come with a warning. There’s a graphic torture scene that might put some readers off. If you can get past the gore (the scene’s short), I think you’ll find the rest of the book worth the effort.

The Suburban Fantasy series is definitely best read in order.

BOOK DESCRIPTION: Simon learns that it isn’t smart to lie to a truth faerie.

Simon still hasn’t gotten used to living next door to a vampire, and even though Julian is not the monster Simon expected, Simon can’t see past the fangs. When a sadistic faerie turns up on Simon’s doorstep looking for Julian and tortures Simon for the information, Simon has no choice but to seek refuge with his vampire neighbor. Putting his life in the hands of the last person he ever thought he could trust, Simon discovers a few things about vampires and a little about himself, too.

Julian, never short on charm, wastes no time in coaxing Simon into his bed one last time before they all die. Except that Simon isn’t in danger. Julian is the only one they want. Feeling used and betrayed, Simon leaves Julian to face the threat alone, a decision that may prove fatal.

River Of Need by Shayla Kersten
Reviewed by Theresa

I really enjoyed River of Need. Having read both Hidden Force and Hidden Hands, I was excited to revisit the characters from those books and read Kyle’s story.

River of Need starts out with an emotional punch that continues throughout the story. Shayla Kersten packs a lot emotion into ninety-nine pages. This story left a lump in my throat and teaches a valuable lesson in love. Dustin’s life turned from good to bad in almost the blink of an eye because he wasn’t honest but with the love and trust of the one person he betrayed you just know that there will be a happily ever after at the end of Kyle and Dustin’s story. Shayla gives us a story that is both romantic and true to itself, without pulling the reader from the fantasy.

I have always enjoyed what I’ve read from Shayla Kersten and River of Need is no different. For a quick emotionally believable story, pick up River of Need. River of Need is a standalone story but for the best enjoyment I recommend reading Hidden Force and Hidden Hands.

Book Description: Two years after their breakup, Detective Kyle Shelton didn’t expect to see his lying, cheating, closeted ex. Especially not behind bars for prostitution. Bailing him out is one of the stupidest things Kyle has done in a while. Although letting his ex back in his bed probably ranks higher on the dumbass scale.

Dustin Eldridge’s lies about his sexual preferences have left him with nothing. Literally. He’s lost his home, his family, his job and, worse, he’s lost Kyle. On the streets, with no one to turn to, he’s resorted to selling his body to survive. Then Kyle—of all people—comes to his rescue. Dustin can’t fix the past but maybe there’s hope for a future.

Unless Kyle really believes Dustin added serial killer to his resume, along with hooker.

Note: For maximum reader enjoyment, we suggest also reading Hidden Force (Tony and Ryan) and Hidden Hands (David March), in which these secondary characters were heroes.

Cowboy Crush was a good story, well written and believable but the characters just didn’t hold my attention. I found it too easy to put down and come back to later on. Book Description: When the future depends on trust—things might get a little rowdy.

He’s spent years going from one rodeo to the next, biding his time and saving his money for the ranch he wanted to call home. Unfortunately, he tries to find the answers at the local saloon—too bad the more he drinks, the more he can’t stop thinking about the attraction he’s had to deny. Until now…

Ready to hit the road, Vinn hunts down his circuit companion and best friend, Eli. The last place he expected to find him was in the saloon drowning himself in the bottom of a bottle of whiskey. As if things weren’t complicated enough with the ever-growing attraction between them. But alcohol lowers inhibitions, and for a few brief minutes, Vinn entertains thoughts of going for it—despite the fiancée, despite the friendship, and despite the fact Eli isn’t gay.

Rodeos and cowboys make good bedfellows. But do you risk a friendship simply to scratch an itch?

Just for Christmas by George Seaton
Reviewed by Kathy K.

Just for Christmas by George Seaton is pure magic, holiday and otherwise. It is a wonderful, touching and joyous Christmas story but it is so, so much more. It’s about family, love and family love. It’s about being true to who you are and being honest with yourself and those you love. It’s also one of the most heartwarming, utterly *complete* stories even for all that it’s only 11 pages long. The romance element exists—and beautifully—but it’s not the main focus and yet I don’t feel that there’s anything lacking.

Just for Christmas follows Frank over a number of years, glimpses of him, his development and what family means, from childhood to adulthood. We get to know, however briefly, who he is and who the people are that have an impact on his life. And it’s a true, if different, experience.

Once again George Seaton has wrought poetry with images that come to bright life and fill the reader’s heart. And the ending… wow! It was far more than I had expected and I was left with both joy and sorrow intertwined.  How, you might ask does *that* work?

My answer is to take a few minutes and discover for yourself how Seaton’s artistry can bring to life two disparate and yet totally complementary emotions.  Magic I tell you, pure and utter magic.

Candy Cain by Constantine De Bohon
Guest Reviewer Rhian Cahill

Candy Cain started off a little slow, we’re introduced to Candy first and while we definitely got a good feel for her the amount of backstory dragged a little but from the second she bumps into Cain things get moving. I enjoyed the bickering between this pair as each did something we’re told we shouldn’t; judge a book by it’s cover. Both Candy and Cain aren’t what they appear and as these two find themselves in a life or death situation they begin to discover what’s below the surface isn’t what they expect. While at times I felt the characters made life altering decision too quickly I still thoroughly enjoyed this little Christmas read. Ms. De Bohon has delivered a story that shows Christmas wishes can come true no matter how old we are when we make them.

Book Description: Candy is on top of the world, a high priced corporate lawyer, expensive cars, time on her hands and money to burn. Although she has no one to burn it on, except for a yearly ritual of buying toys and treats for the needy at Christmas time, the money is still there. Every holiday sees her traveling to the quaint village she grew up in as a child to make wishes come true. As a foster child of disadvantaged parents she had no luxuries save but one, she was loved, as were her four foster siblings. After her foster parents demise, she had found herself alone and lonely over the years.

Cain was an egotistical enigma. A very deprived and hurting enigma, who felt wishes were for fools. He was opposite to Candy’s wealth, grace and charm, being destitute, impolite, and ill-mannered. Their two worlds literally collide when Candy bumps into him outside a shopping mall. His disdain is more than apparent, taking in her expensive clothing, what he believes to be her haughty attitude, and determines her to be an overindulged, spoiled brat. She, in turn, believes she is staring at an underachieving, self righteous bum. After a heated confrontation of wills, the two hope never to set eyes on one another again.

How unfortunate it was for Candy to end up in his vehicle in a raging snowstorm overnight after he accidentally runs her off the road.  The two have no choice but to warm each others’ cold bodies, lest they freeze to death. As the temperature dips outside, the heat begins to sizzle inside. Candy and Cain, though worlds apart in society, begin to feel perhaps they have more in common than either could ever wish for. They both discover the miracle of Christmas wishes isn’t for just the very young.

Cold Winters By AKM Miles
Reviewed by Kathy K.

I’ve read a few of AKM Miles’ stories and I’ve heard even more wonderful things about them and I’m here to say that everything is true.

She’s a fabulous writer who draws us right into the characters and story; I also love the dynamics between her men, especially Cole and Mason.

Cole Winters is HOT; there’s something about a man in uniform that’s always kinda sexy, but Cole is also really cares for the people in his town. He’s big on looking after everyone and cannot stand bullies. And the Hawkins’ brothers are among the worst, especially when it comes to Judieanne, Cole’s very good friend who owns and runs the diner. This woman has a lot of class and how she manages to keep her cool when faced with the brothers’ ignorant behavior is a minor miracle.

Mason is completely over his head; ever since he saw something he shouldn’t have he’s been on the run and I’ll leave it to you to discover the what and the why. The what is heartbreaking and terrifying and the why, well that’s very neat. And Mason is much more than he first appears; of course to attract a man of Cole’s caliber he’d pretty much have to be. They’re very well matched and watching as their relationship develops is pure joy, sweet… oh and HOT!

There are some parts that can be difficult to read, but it all comes together in the end. And there are some, to me anyways, unexpected twists; AKM Miles’ has very ably combined mystery with romance and her book is filled with a wide variety of people. There’s a lot of personality brought to the fore; even the tertiary characters are well-developed. Cold Winters is rich in detail and emotion; joy and laughter vie with sorrow and hatred.

Miles’ had, once again, told a story that I’ll be more than happy to go back to again and again…but that doesn’t surprise me in the least.

The Go Between by A.B. Gayle
Reviewed by Theresa

I really enjoyed the first book I read by A.B. Gayle so when I ran across The Go Between I wanted to read it, of course I love reading a m/m ménage. I enjoyed the dynamics in this story two roommates both secretly having the hots for each other but both afraid to say something to the other. Enter the best and you have the makings for one hot evening and A.B. Gayle delivered on that even in a short 22 pages I felt the emotional awkwardness of the situation and that made the story all the more enjoyable.

I have to say that as a rule I prefer my m/m/m stories to have a triple happily ever but in this case Zack is exactly what the title says The Go Between – a Christmas Cupid. But, it worked for me. The author didn’t try to sell me a romantic future that wouldn’t fly. I was sorry the story was so short only because I would have liked to see more of Jake and Sam as a couple, but for a quick short holiday read I was not disappointed.
