Because You Love Me by Mari Carr
Safety in numbers? Depends on what you mean by safe…
Bridget Wilder’s life is shot to hell—literally—when she witnesses the murder of her best friend, Lyle. Protective custody? What a joke. Time after time, someone has leaked her whereabouts, forcing her to run from one safe house to the next.
Tired of cold, lonely beds and living in fear, Bridget convinces her guardian cop she’s safer off the grid, following Lyle’s trail of clues to a missing flash drive that could put the killer behind bars.
It doesn’t take twins Mark and Matt James long to figure out two things. Bridget’s not only in trouble, she is trouble—they both want her. When things get a little hot and heavy one night, though, they’re stunned to discover that they don’t mind sharing. And she loves being shared.
Between the James brothers’ hot, hard bodies, Bridget finally feels safe—and loved. When a hit man tracks her down, the last thing she wants is for them to place those bodies between her and danger. But those cowboys have other ideas. Like keeping her alive long enough to convince her she belongs with them. Forever.

Trey Donovan is mourning the end of summer with fellow teachers when Ellie Hunter walks into Tully’s Bar. Better yet, she’s now a former rival basketball coach and the newest science teacher at his high school. He can’t think of anyone better to fill the vacant assistant coach job. In fact, if he plays his cards right, she might end up his perfect match off the court, too.
If she stops holding him at arm’s length long enough to give him a chance.
Coming off a year of bad decisions that not only broke her heart, but cost her a job, Ellie has good reason to swear off workplace romances. Her undeniable—and undeniably mutual—attraction to Trey is a serious threat to her resolve. Especially since Trey’s too-easy capitulation to her boundaries stings just a little too much.
Funny thing, though. When she sees Trey dancing with someone else, the edges of her vision turn decidedly green. And when another man tries to kiss Ellie, Trey sees red.
Maybe it wouldn’t hurt to fudge the rules. Just a little. After all, casual sex doesn’t count. Right?

And a look ahead to what comes next….
Cocktales, Book One
Stephanie Harper is perfectly happy co-owning Books and Brew, where she slings drinks and entertains her friends with cutting wit and a cynical take on love. She’s convinced she has no time for anything deeper than sex; she has a business to run, after all. And her thrice-married mother has proven happy every after doesn’t exist.
Jarod Nolan begs to differ. Chance has him running into Steph—and giving her a ticket—one morning, but it’s fate that finds him in her place of business that same evening. A sizzling one-night stand ensues, and although Stephanie escapes before he wakes the next morning, Jarod is already sure she’s worth the chase.
Steph’s more than willing to party naked with the hot cop, but she’s adamant they’re driven by lust, not love. Jarod is prepared to prove otherwise, even if it means giving up one of the things he and Stephanie do best…
What’s that old saying? Abstinence makes the heart grow fonder?

Mari Carr Is In The House…
Hello friends and happy new year to everyone!!
*
I’m here today with friend and author Mari Carr. The seventh and final book in her Wild Irish Series, Any Given Sunday, releases today at Ellora’s Cave and I thought we’d do a short interview with her.
*
Say hello Mari
*
*
Mari Carr: Hello Mari.
*
T: *rolls eyes* I walked right into that one.
*
*
EAR – T: How did you come up with the idea for the Wild Irish Series?
*
Mari Carr: I knew I wanted to write a series because I love them. One of my favorite series at Ellora’s Cave is Madison Hayes’ Calendar Girls. I thought the idea of coming up with a Miss for every month was clever and I tried to come up with a “theme” for my series. I remember the nursery rhyme, Monday’s Child. From there, the pub and the family just sort of evolved!
*
EAR – T: Do you have a favorite book from the series?
*
Mari Carr: Oh no…really? I have to say. Hmmm…I’m cheating and picking two. I’m partial to Saturday Night Special because it was the first time I went for a no-holds-barred approach to romantic comedy and because (don’t tell the other Collins kids) Riley was my favorite character. My other favorite was Friday I’m in Love. Ewan turned out to be **in my mind** the most romantic on the Collins boys. Believe me, I didn’t see that coming, but when it did, I was like “Wow, I love him!”
*
*
EAR – T: Which set of characters gave you the most trouble?
*
Mari Carr: Jeez…gonna say it. Any Given Sunday is the most difficult book I’ve ever written in my life and for a lot of little reasons that sort of added up until I was totally freaked out. First of all, it was the last book in the series and I wanted it to be special. Secondly, I’d really hemmed myself in on some plot points in the previous books that challenged me—the fight scene in Come Monday, Lauren’s presence as Sean’s girlfriend in Saturday Night Special two years prior to the events in Any Given Sunday. It was a tough puzzle to put together. Finally, I couldn’t make myself say goodbye to these characters. I cried when I typed the words The End. Literally crawled into bed and cried!
*
*
EAR – T: What is the hardest part of writing this series?
*
Mari Carr: Keeping all the little plot points straight as well as managing to revisit older characters. I think the presence of the family was important to all the stories, but damn…there were a lot of kids in that family! It was hard to work them in sometimes.
*
*
EAR – T: Are you a plotter or a pantser? Why?
*
Mari Carr: I plotted the first three books because I had to. In order to get the series approved, I needed synopses and the first book written. After that, I think it was a combination of the two. Most of my books start with a couple of characters and a conversation. I let the words flow until I hit that “place” where I realize I need direction. Usually after two or three chapters in, I start mapping out my course and figuring things out. This works for me.
*
*
EAR – T: Does the Wild Irish have a soundtrack? What are the songs?
*
Mari Carr: Oh yeah. Music tends to play a big role in terms of “getting me in the mood” of my stories. With seven books—all of them named after songs—the list is substantial!
*
And So It Goes by Billy Joel
Leave Me Alone by Helen Reddy
Ruby Tuesday by The Rolling Stones
Come Monday by Jimmy Buffett
I Don’t Wanna Miss a Thing by Aerosmith
In Spite of Ourselves by John Prine and Iris DeMent
Champagne Supernova by Oasis
I Got You Babe by Sonny and Cher
Release Me by Wilson Phillips
Gettin’ Jiggy Wit’ It by Will Smith
December 1963 by Jersey Boys
Friday I’m in Love by The Cure
Beyond My Wildest Dreams by Little Mermaid Broadway cast
I Gotta Feeling by Black Eyed Peas
Forever by Chris Brown
*
*
EAR – T: If they turned Wild Irish into a mini-series who would you want to play your characters?
*
Mari Carr: All of them??? Oh man…it would take years for me to decide this! Sean Connery as Pop—LOL. No, not really! I’m so bad at this. Honestly, I have no idea.
T: That’s is ok I just tossed that one in there to make you sweat. I know I’m EVIL
*
*
EAR – T: In Sweet Thursday Lily, Justin and Killian meet again at their 10 year class reunion. Have you attended any of your class reunions? What did you learn?
*
Mari Carr: I’ve NEVER gone to a class reunion. Do you believe it? I was one of those kids who just sort of got through high school and once I left my classmates behind, I didn’t look back. The irony of this is my day job. I’m a high school librarian!
T: this is something I totally understand I was looking over an old high school year book and for the life of my I’m not sure who half the people where that signed it
lol
*
*
EAR- T: Tell us about the absolute BEST fan letter you have received.
*
Mari Carr: I am the luckiest writer on earth because I have readers who aren’t shy about writing me letters after reading one of my books. I’ve gotten some beautiful emails. I will say my BEST experience as a writer occurred at RAW this past September. I was standing next to Jayne Rylon when a lovely lady walked up to her and said, “I heard Mari Carr’s here and you know her. Do you know where she is now?” Jayne looked at me and pointed. The lady literally screamed and said, “I love your books!” I felt like one of the damn Jonas Brothers. It was AWESOME!
*
*
EAR –T: Do you draw inspiration for your characters from real life? Any fun stories you could share?
*
Mari Carr: I wrote a story called Do Over that is available at Carina Press. It’s very loosely based on an event that happened in my best friend’s life. For her 25th wedding anniversary her husband took her back to their hometown for a walk down memory lane. I patterned the story after her experiences. She’s the one who told me to write the book, but as she said, “you’ll have to add a lot of that sex stuff to make it good!”
*
*
EAR – T: Ever wanted to put someone in your books just to “kill them off”?
*
Mari Carr: NO!
Shhhh, you’re giving away my secrets. Hee hee.
T: I just knew I wasn’t going to get the juicy answer I wanted *pouts*
*
*
EAR – T: If you could meet anyone in the world who would it be and why?
*
Mari Carr: Gerard Butler. He melts my butter!
*
*
EAR – T: Do you have any guilty pleasures?
*
Mari Carr: OMG—I have too many! Listening to music, eating potato chips, playing Hearts on the computer, drinking Jim Beam and Diet Coke, reading my Kindle under the flannel sheets in my comfy bed…should I go on?
*
T: What No Wine?
*
*
EAR – T: What are your favorite TV shows? Or should I ask what happened on Glee last week
lol
*
Mari Carr: You know me so well. I’m in a total depression right now because Glee is on hiatus. It’s the only show I watch and honestly, I’m one of those people who could live quite happily without a TV in the house.
T: My family would revolt at the mere thought.
*
*
EAR – T: What’s next for you? Another big series?
*
Mari Carr: As luck would have it, YES! I’m co-writing a series with Jayne Rylon called the Compass Brothers. It’s about four brothers who think all their dreams will come true far from the family’s ranch. However, life (and love) soon sends them straight back to the place where they left their hearts—home. Northern Exposure is the first and it will release at Samhain on March 15. The second story, Southern Comfort, comes out in July.
*
*
EAR – T: Before we wrap this up you want to tell the readers here today where they can find you?
*
Mari Carr: Sure! I’m sort of everywhere. Here are the links!

The night stretches into the weekend and, as K suspected, none of them want it to end. But he and Lily know people live in pairs, not trios, and they call a halt now, before it’s too late.
Justin, however, knows a good thing when he sees it. He’s ready to fight for what he wants…what they all need. He just has to convince Lilly and Killian that unconventional can also be extraordinary.

A Standalone Sequel To Spitfire
Reviewed by Nixie
Mari Carr certainly knows how to spin a tale. Yet again, she has written a wonderful story that yes, is full of yummy sexiness, but one that also has that human touch, the ability to make us feel and want. Claire and Jeb have their history, the whole love lost thing. Jeb knew Claire couldn’t handle what he wanted, what he wanted from her, so in the end they went their separate ways. Once reunited, Jeb introduced a whole new level to their relationship. The dominance and submission, though very mild, was very well done. The pauses Claire would take before doing something Jeb asked, nay, demanded were wonderful to witness.
I love that Claire is a smartass, it reminds me very much of myself. The fact that she doesn’t make anything easy, constantly pushing and teasing. And Jeb, who takes all that pushing and teasing in stride, who loves her for being her, because otherwise, he would be bored.
The story flowed well, and kept you reading until the very end. While not unique, I definitely feel that Ms. Carr put a unique spin on the reunited lover’s story. She has become a favourite author of mine, and I highly recommend this tale.
And how awesome is it, that this book is dedicated to our very own T!
“This story is dedicated to that ebook addict, T. A wonderful reviewer and an even better friend. Thanks for the title suggestion.”

Who shows up at her door, first in line for the job? Jeb Carter. Ex-high-school sweetheart. Longtime rodeo star. And the one man capable of making Claire’s lust burn out of control…of making her surrender completely.

Tequila Truth goes down smooth, and no lime necessary. Mari Carr’s novella is a sweet hot read that is one of those stories you really wish wouldn’t end.
.
The name of the story is the theme that winds throughout; a game that when played makes the players answer with total honesty the question that is asked of them. They’ve been playing it for years, but instead of getting her all male and sex obsessed roommates to get a little more introspective, Kylie finds herself blurting out a truth one night that will change things for all of them forever. Her revelation that her ultimate sex fantasy is a ménage a trios with some added kinks knocks the blinders off the two men she’s been best friends with since college, and all the sudden she doesn’t look quite like their tomboy girl buddy anymore. When it becomes obvious that she’s intent on fulfilling at least part of that fantasy, they realize that it might just be them that needs to step up and do the job, all in the name of making sure it’s done right for their best friend, of course.
.
Mari Carr has written three wonderful characters, and with her talents they pull you into every nuance of the relationship that unwinds between the three of them. The hero’s are both sweet and a total compliment to each other, not only are they Kylie’s lovers but also her friends, her protectors and everything a girl could hope two men could possibly be. In turn she is the liveliest part of them, giving both of them something they need beyond just the friendship she’s shared with them for years. The sexual tension builds to a smoking hot level without ever leaving the fact that these three are falling in love parked at the door. It’s an excellent read, and I highly recommend it. Tequila Truth is definitely worth taking a shot.

One’s the loneliest number. Two’s company. Three’s a fantasy come true.
.
The rules of Tequila Truth are quite simple. Shots are poured, a question asked, and only absolute truth can be the answer. Kylie Halston has been playing the game with her roommates, Colt and Heath, since their freshmen year of college.
.
On his twenty-fifth birthday, Heath poses a question: “What is your ultimate sex fantasy?” While Colt and Heath’s fantasies are too hot for words, it’s Kylie’s sex dream that hits a little too close to home for all of them. Her wish? For a ménage a trois with two men, complete with bondage and a bit of spanking for good measure.
.
Colt and Heath are only too willing to make Kylie’s fantasies come true and they make a proposal—one no-holds-barred, sexed-up weekend where nothing is off the menu. The only question is, come Monday, will their platonic relationship survive the passion?

After Alex confesses to Allie that he wants both her and his best friend Charlie in his bed, Allie skips town like a thief in the night.
