Have Yourself A Rotten Little Christmas by JL Oiler
Guest Reviewer Rhian Cahill
There’s nothing more rotten at Christmas than a zombie but this little story is anything but smelly. JL Oiler does a great job of showing the funny side of life (or is that death?) as a zombie. And speaking of death, he can come knocking on my door any day if he comes in the form of Ebenezer Grimm. Holly isn’t what the mind conjures up when thinking zombie but there a couple of others that fit the picture well as she attempts to meet the requirements to remain undead and not rot away to nothing. I liked the interaction with her Kelli and I found Holly’s mother charming as she made every effort to marry off her daughter in the hope of procuring more grandchildren. While this story turned out nothing like I’d expected it was a pleasant surprise to discover what was actually between the pages of this Christmas read by JL Oiler.

Book Description: Holly has never really liked Christmas, and this year her reasons to dislike the season seem to have come to a head. What is a girl to do? Holly has to rush about not only to finish all her Christmas shopping, work her crummy job, but also convince her mother not to fix her up with some loser so that she can have more grandkids. Oh and don’t forget that now she has to spend Christmas Eve tracking down the guy who made her a zombie before someone else takes a bite out of him or she starts to rot. Thank goodness Santa sees fit to send some Christmas cheer her way in the form of a tall sexy Reaper.

Candy Cain by Constantine De Bohon
Guest Reviewer Rhian Cahill
Candy Cain started off a little slow, we’re introduced to Candy first and while we definitely got a good feel for her the amount of backstory dragged a little but from the second she bumps into Cain things get moving. I enjoyed the bickering between this pair as each did something we’re told we shouldn’t; judge a book by it’s cover. Both Candy and Cain aren’t what they appear and as these two find themselves in a life or death situation they begin to discover what’s below the surface isn’t what they expect. While at times I felt the characters made life altering decision too quickly I still thoroughly enjoyed this little Christmas read. Ms. De Bohon has delivered a story that shows Christmas wishes can come true no matter how old we are when we make them.

Book Description: Candy is on top of the world, a high priced corporate lawyer, expensive cars, time on her hands and money to burn. Although she has no one to burn it on, except for a yearly ritual of buying toys and treats for the needy at Christmas time, the money is still there. Every holiday sees her traveling to the quaint village she grew up in as a child to make wishes come true. As a foster child of disadvantaged parents she had no luxuries save but one, she was loved, as were her four foster siblings. After her foster parents demise, she had found herself alone and lonely over the years.
Cain was an egotistical enigma. A very deprived and hurting enigma, who felt wishes were for fools. He was opposite to Candy’s wealth, grace and charm, being destitute, impolite, and ill-mannered. Their two worlds literally collide when Candy bumps into him outside a shopping mall. His disdain is more than apparent, taking in her expensive clothing, what he believes to be her haughty attitude, and determines her to be an overindulged, spoiled brat. She, in turn, believes she is staring at an underachieving, self righteous bum. After a heated confrontation of wills, the two hope never to set eyes on one another again.
How unfortunate it was for Candy to end up in his vehicle in a raging snowstorm overnight after he accidentally runs her off the road. The two have no choice but to warm each others’ cold bodies, lest they freeze to death. As the temperature dips outside, the heat begins to sizzle inside. Candy and Cain, though worlds apart in society, begin to feel perhaps they have more in common than either could ever wish for. They both discover the miracle of Christmas wishes isn’t for just the very young.
