Touch Me Gently by J.R. Loveless
Reviewed by Droogie
I will start off by saying that this book is one of the most heart wrenching books I have ever read, and it is always at the top of my re-read pile. And without a doubt each and every time I open its cover the tears start flowing.
I love this book for the fact that no matter how much crap and bad stuff that Kaden faced in his past. And as terrified that it made him, he still found the strength to go on. Ms Loveless won me over by the end of the very first page. And has had me searching for, and purchasing other works by Ms Loveless.
I love the way Logan, his sister Shea and many of the hands, were able to help Kaden through some of his damaged past. Their hearts were so open and willing, and never judgemental. This proves that there are good people in the world. Ms Loveless has a way of making her readers see the people in her stories as more than just characters.
I loved the fact that Ms Loveless helped Kaden heal just that little bit more by bonding with the damaged horse they saw that special something in each other. I thank Ms Loveless for letting me walk through Kaden’s life, as sad as it was it was still quite beautiful.
Ms Loveless’ writing style was enjoyable and easy to read not only did the main characters grow but so did the story that revolved around them. I found very little grammatical errors, and Ihave no hesitation in recommending this book for others to read. My only advice is to have tissues handy… just in case you need them.
The cover was done by: Anne Cain.
I will end with my favourite lines:
“Young one, ain’t ya? And a man, to boot. That’s a surprise. Usually he likes his cooks young, pretty, and female. He don’t get out much, if you know what I mean,” the woman drawled.
“Leave the kid alone, Doris,” Charlie Snapped. “And get back to work. Don’t mind her, son. She’s just jealous because he won’t look at an old hag like her.”

Men of Charlestown 2: Yummy Indulgences
By Andi Anderson
Reviewed by Droogie
Yummy Indulgences was a wonderful book and I enjoyed every moment of reading it. It is book two in the Men of Charlestown series, and though it can quite happily be read as a standalone book I recommend reading them in order as character interact in each book and it lets you know a bit more about the wonderful men that inhabit this town.
Ms Anderson converted me as a fan when I first read this book and I have since had to go and purchase the rest of her works. I love Ms Anderson’s writing style, and her characters always seem just like the guys next door.
Shiloh who owns Yummy Indulgences and Allen make such a wonderful couple and their love story is absolutely beautiful. They each held qualities that the other needed to grow and Ms Anderson has done us all a favour by letting us share in their love story even if it was just for a moment in time.
Ms Anderson writing style is easy to read, and I had no problems following along in their lives. Shiloh and Allen grabbed hold of my heart from the very first moment I met them and have still as yet to let go.
I found little to no grammatical errors and if I did it didn’t matter because the story sucked me right in and I forgot everything else until I had finished reading it. I have no hesitations in recommending not only this book but the other books in this series as well.

I will end with my favourite lines”
Shiloh shrugged. “I know we’re taking things one day at a time, but I kinda hoped that we were going to be sleeping together tonight. But I’m okay with having my own room, too.”
Allen chuckled and shook his head. “There is nothing I would like more. I just didn’t want to push you into it.”
Shiloh grinned and had the horrible suspicion he was bouncing. “You’re not pushing me into anything. I want to be with you as much as possible. Is that alright?”

Smashed Into Pieces by Scarlett Blackwell
Reviewed by Droogie
Smashed Into Pieces is the second book in the Clear water Creek Chronicles, and though it can be read as a standalone book, I recommend reading it from book one: Into the Light, so that you get a feel for the town and the people that live there.
Ms Blackwell has had me as a fan for quite a while now, as I enjoy the way her stories always flow so well and take you by the hand and lead you on a different adventure. This book did not let me down.
Finn Austen and Sherriff Brandon’s love story was both sad and truly beautiful and held me captivated with every page that I read. The pain that Finn endured was heartbreaking and had me reaching for the tissues on more than one occasion.
I like how Ms Blackwell depicted the lives of these two men that came from such different backgrounds yet found comfort in each other. So thank you Ms Blackwell for allowing me to spend time with these wonderful men.
I found Smashed Into Pieces to be exceptionally well written and easy to follow the story. I recommend that both books in this series be put on everyone’s To Be Read list, and if they are already there then bump them up to the head of the pile.
If you want a book that lodges itself into your heart and calls to be read over and over again, then this is definitely the right book for you.

I will end with my favourite lines:
Brandon squared his shoulders and tried not to dwell on the man’s perfect face. “Are you drunk?”
“I’ve had a couple of beers. I came out for a walk and…”
“You thought you would spoil an area of outstanding natural beauty by pissing on a two hundred year old oak tree?”
The man’s small mouth tightened. “And you’re wasting your time by pulling me up for it? Don’t you have doughnuts to eat or something?”

Rite of Passage by Bryl R. Tyne

Rite of Passage was a wonderful book in my humble opinion. Bryl Tyne wrote a book that stopped me in my tracks and I was mesmerised from the very first page. I liked this story because even when I thought I had it worked out, than something would happen that would start guessing again and to me this makes a great book.
Bryl Tyne made each character so unique that you couldn’t help but love them all the slow romance that blossomed between John and Pat was beautiful to behold. So different yet exactly what the other needed.
Bryl Tyne has led us through John’s life, and let us watch as he grew through his interaction with the other people in his life. This just made everyone seem that more realistic, which in turn made the story well worth the read.
I think that the way John worked through his anxiety problems and let strangers help him, shows that there are good people in the world. We just have to open up our eyes and see them.
The settings throughout the story were so believable that it touched your heart and didn’t let go. I wanted to visit where this story was set. I wanted to volunteer at the wolf reserve.
I love Bryl Tyne’s writing style, the story flowed beautifully and I found it easy to follow along without getting lost. I have no problem in telling everyone to read this book. I promise; you won’t be disappointed. I found very few grammatical errors, which made this story all the more perfect to read.

Deefur Dog by RJ Scott

Deefur Dog is a book in which one can lose themselves even if it is for only a short time. You find yourself barracking for the start of a new family; this is such a sweet an innocent book, with just enough heartache to have you reaching for the Tissues.
Ms Scott has done a wonderful job in her portrayal of Jason and Cameron. They seem so full bodied and multidimensional that they could be the guys next door. Their fears and angst are what pulls on your heart strings. They complement each other so well; so well done Ms Scott.
I liked the way that poor Cameron had such a hard time finding the perfect person for what he needed and then when he did find him, he found him in the most unlikeliest of places. I especially loved the antics of Deefur. They say that children and animals see the truth in what a person is truly like and I am glad that Cameron listened to Deefur and little Emma.
I liked the way Ms Scott made the story flow so easily that I didn’t have any trouble following along. I found it to be a pleasant and happy story, even with the touch of sadness it held.
Ms Scott has a beautiful writing style that has made me a fan and I look forward to reading more of her works. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this book for others to read. I would even go so far as in saying check out more of her work as you will be pleasantly surprised.

Men of Charlestown 3: Daniel’s Dream by Andi Anderson

I should start off by saying that I am already a huge fan of Ms Anderson’s, and have read all of her work, but I am especially fond of her men in Charlestown series and this book is the third in that line. It is also the second featuring this particular family. And though you could read it as a standalone book; I recommend that to read them in order. I am certain that you will love them all.
Ms Anderson had my hand reaching for the tissues from the very first chapter, from then on I just knew I was going to love reading the rest of the book as I reacquainted myself with my old friends Nick, Josh, and Daniel. I was still dabbing at my eyes by the end.
I believe Ms Anderson brings her characters to life in such a way that it would be hard for anyone not to like them. I liked that Ms Anderson allows us to see through the hearts and eyes of all her characters
Nick and Josh are so wonderful in the love and caring for not only themselves but for young Daniel as well. Ms Anderson has given them morals that should be shown by every human being in existence, which is what makes this story so believable and a pleasure to read.
Ms Anderson’s world of Charlestown is a place that I would very much like to visit, and I do, by re reading these stories as often as I can. I hope that Ms Anderson will bring us more from her Men of Charlestown. I for one will be keeping my eye out for them. I do not even hesitate it telling you all to read these stories.
The story flows wonderfully and is so easy to follow. I love how Ms Anderson manages to fit so much into her short stories, yet I am grateful that she does.

Call On Me by Catriana Sommers
Reviewed by Droogie
Ms Sommers has done a wonderful job with this story. I found the whole theme to be something that grabbed a hold of my heart and refused to let go. I loved the whole concept of the unknown love between the two friends.
I think that the way Ms Sommers has portrayed Darshan as being alone even within his own family was heart breaking. Because, it is so true to life in many families. I loved that Darshan overcame this with the help of friends. I loved the fact that everyone called Darshan; Shan, and Sal called him Dar, it was more intimate.
I think Ms Sommers has written the cross culture well, and showed that in people’s lives there are both the good and the bad to overcome.
Ms Sommers has written this tale so that it is easy to follow, and very understandable. I may not have been reaching for the tissues, but, I sure did want to jump in and slay Darshan’s dragons for him. To me that makes an excellent story.
Ms Sommers welcomed us into the world of these three wonderful characters and let us take a look-see and I for one am grateful that she did.
If I had to think of one thing I didn’t like about this story it was that I thought it ended too soon, there was still more I wanted to know. Though, that didn’t stop me from thoroughly enjoying this book. I have no hesitation recommending this book to other people because it truly is a beautiful story.

“Sarai, honey,” Darshan’s voice came out clearly, although he did not turn around. “What have I told you about picking the lock on Daddy’s door?”
Jaw dropping, Sal could only stare at the guilty-looking girl as he remembered he had locked the door last night.
“I’m sorry, Daddy.” Sarai said, sitting up and turning to Darshan. “I—”

Blank by Sommer Marsden
Reviewed by Eve
Blank is a beautiful love story. The sex is gritty and raw with an honesty that took my breath away. I love this author’s voice. It’s sharp, short and the phrasing is evocative. The dialogue is edgy and commands attention.
Did I mention I really liked this book? It’s one of a few that stuck with me well after reading it.
Blank is a provocative exploration of Kyle’s desperate need to move forward, past a disastrous broken heart. His mourning is pitiful and pitiless and I cheered every hard-earned step in his growth. It’s not an easy or linear path and I loved the character’s complexity and foibles.
I’d definitely read Sommer Marsden again and I’d heartedly recommend you give this author a try too.

The Severing by D.J. Manly
Reviewed by Droogie
The Severing by D.J. Manly was one of the strangest, and intriguing books that I have ever read. Mr. Manly has done a wonderful job in taking us on a journey into the unknown. I was fascinated from beginning to end.
Mr. manly is an excellent writer and what an imagination. I wish I was half the writer he is. This story was completely different to anything I have ever read before. And his characterisation was brilliant. Everyone was so realistic and multi-dimensional.
This tale was written in such a way that it was easy to follow, and had you guessing right to the end as to who the bad guy was. The tale of Billy Conway afterlife was so well written; I loved how he interacted with both the dead and the still living.
Mr. Manly is definitely someone that I will be looking into for further adventures into his writing. If I had to pick one thing to fault about this book… it would be that it ended… I wanted to keep reading; I wanted to hear more about Terrance and his ghostly companions. I wanted to know if the others found justice. So my plea to Mr manly is please write further stories of those caught within the severing.
The world that Mr. Manly created was realistic and I liked the fact that within this world the characters grew as the storyline progressed. The more you read about them the more you cared what happened to them.
Mr. manly had me reaching for the tissues in parts of this beautifully written tale of the dead. It now has me wondering if this is what the afterlife is going to be like; so well done Mr. Manly. I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this book as a good read.

Where The Heart Is
By Elizabeth Silver and Jenny Urban
Reviewed by Theresa
Where The Heart is has everything needed for a hot erotic weekend. One cabin—check. A blizzard—check. No electricity—check. Three hot men—triple check. For a quick erotic read, it works, because the sex was sizzling. Unfortunately, the connection between the characters was not. The “happily ever after,” felt forced and that ruined the story for me. For three friends that have been friends forever to move to lovers and committed partners all in one weekend wasn’t believable. As much as I wanted to just concentrate on the weekend itself, the future was too much a part of the story for me to ignore.
If all you want is an erotic read, Where The Heart Is has that covered but if you want something more meaningful, I’d give this one a pass.

Rhiannon by Neil Plakcy

A short read in Untreed Reads’ Candlelight Literary Romance line, Rhiannon is terrific. It’s lean and well written. What I liked best was the hero’s the antithesis of romantic, yet this is a wonderful romance. I loved the vulnerability displayed by his love interest, who’s well rounded enough not to be wussy. It was a delicate balance and Mr. Plakcy handled it beautifully.
The story’s set in Miami, in August, and the author put in just enough little details to make me feel I was there with his characters.

Sparkles and Strawberries by Katica Locke
Reviewed by Eve
This sequel to Cinnamon Stick-Faerie Christmas is imaginative and fast-paced. Nathan and Ezarali are together again and the bond between them is maturing, genuine and heartwarming. Katica Locke has written characters who feel and act like real people, beautiful warts and all. The principals are emotionally scarred but face each day with courage and optimism.
The writer has done a super world-building job. The planet Nethamalon and its inhabitants are intriguing, if a little scary at times.
The conflict is believable and showcases the characters’ nobility.
There’s beautiful scrolled artwork down the side of each page. Problem is, my e-reader separated the scrollwork and the text onto separate pages. I’d read a few pages of text then have to toggle through a few pages of artwork. I solved the problem by reading the book on my computer but if you’re a dedicated e-reader user, be forewarned.
Even though Sparkles and Strawberries is part of a series, it reads well on its own. It’s seasonally themed but it was still a super read in May. Ms. Locke has done a terrific job with this hot, loving read.

Warrior Camp Book 2: Love’s Indecision by Joyee Flynn
Reviewed By Droogie
Love’s Indecision is a book that if chosen to could be read as a standalone story, yet I express the desire to see everyone read it in the series as the characters from all the books are featured and you get to learn just that much more about them.
I personally had read Book 1 Love’s Deceit first and fell in love with the characters so when I started this book I was so excited when it was the story of the Warrior Matteo Deminguez and the student Nate Hathus.
Ms Flynn takes us on a journey that not only lets us follow Matteo and Nate but we see bits and pieces of the others that you just know will find their own story further down the line.
Ms Flynn has created a world where you crave to be a part of it… where all the characters seem like they are your family… you are happy when they are sad when they are and just wanna slap them when they are being a dumbarse.
I must confess that I am a long time fan of Ms Flynn and have read all of her works that are published. I find her writing style to be refreshing and most often, and especially with this book I felt as though I was sucked right into the story itself.
Love’s Indecision and the rest of the Warrior Camp series are so different from her other works and to me that is the sign of a great writer.
In the story of Nate and Matteo my heart went out to Matteo he really held my heart in thrall. This story goes to show that even big tough men can get hurt and have to work through the pain and heartache that we normal people have to face.
I would have to say that mostly I love the character Rune and will be anxiously waiting for the day when Ms Flynn tells us his tale… I definitely recommend this book and the whole series to everyone. And I will be anxiously waiting for the next book Ms Flynn has published no matter what it is about.
I will end with my favourite lines:
‘I can see the look on your face dude,” Dimitri said as he took a seat in front of my desk. “Yes, you love Nate. It’s written all over your face every time you look at him.”

Ms Scott has done a beautiful job in conveying the story of these two young men… so very different yet both wanting the same thing.
So many parts of this wonderful story had me reaching for the box of tissues, at the pain that Zachary Weston went through just because he didn’t fit into his families kind of normal… Zachary is one character that I wished I could take into my arms and tell him that everything was going to be ok.
Luckily Ms Scott has also written the wonderful Ben Hamilton to star opposite of Zachary. I was happy that Ms Scott wrote Ben so likeable, that he often knew just what to say to the broken young man that entered his life.
Ms Scott has brought to life one of the most common reasons that young gay people leave home the sad thing it is not often by choice they are tossed out into the big wide world and told to fend for themselves… reading this wonderful story I know many of you will think… what can I do to help?
I found that Ms Scott made Zach and Ben’s story flow so that I got caught up in their lives. I loved the fact that not everyone was accepting of the insertion of Zach into the Hamilton household… Jamie Hamilton’s reservations made the story just that much more believable to me.
Even though Ms Scott ended this book so that we got our happily ever after I would have liked for there to be another book… I would have liked the story to continue… I wanted to know more about what happened next in Ben and Zach’s lives and I wanted to know more about Rebecca and Ellie?
I will end with my favourite lines:
He lost it so quickly like a virgin on prom night, between one heartbeat and the next, his hands tangled in Zach’s hair and his words of apology swallowed in kisses.

Jaguar Mate by SA Welsh
Reviewed by Droogie
Ms Welsh has made the tale of destiny and soul mates come full circle… So many times I have read this tale… yet Ms Welsh has truly captured the beauty of not only destined soul mates but the innocence of young love and the trials and tribulations of hiding from what you really want.
The whole idea of the Pack Valley series has me intrigued and I cannot wait for further additions. Jaguar Mate… The story of Kyle and Jay, two young men fated to be together, but before they can get their happily ever after jay has to accept that Kyle is different.
I feel like Ms Welsh, has taken me by the hand and welcomed me to her world. And just like everywhere else not everything is always good… I fell in love with jay from the very first moment through until the end of the story and for everyone out there myself included I hope Ms Welsh soon writes more books in this series, because by the end of the book you really want to know what happens next.
Kyle and Jay had just the right mix of cute and angst to make them believable, and I thought it was great how Kyle had to explain things while the mating heat hit…though I must admit that I wished that Jay would have taken a little longer to become accepting of the changes happening in his life… it just seemed that he accepted everything just a tad too fast. Though I enjoyed the story immensely, and have read it numerous times.
Ms Welsh is one of those authors I found by accident and have since looked up nearly every week to see if there is a new addition to Pack Valley. I recommend this book for everyone; I know you will enjoy it as much as I have.
Ms welsh has made me believe even more those famous words: It can only get better.
I will end with some of Jay’s thoughts:
Obviously smelling his arousal, Kyle turned towards him grinning smugly in a way that left no doubt that his desire was not hidden at all. Damn he was going to have to get used to this. He wasn’t going to think what he’d do when he was around other shifters; he certainly wasn’t going out in public any time soon with his libido having regressed to early horny teen.

Angel and the Assassin by Fyn Alexander
Reviewed by Kathy K.
The first book that I read by Fyn Alexander, Precious Jade, was amazing, and I found myself lost in the world of BDSM, a world that I knew very little about and, really, had less interest in. It was testament to her writing as well as the ability to evoke strong emotions related to her characters that I found so compelling. So when the opportunity arose to review Angel and the Assassin, it was a no-brainer; imagine my delight—actually the thrill—when I started reading it and I found myself utterly and totally enthralled.
Angel and Kael’s story is far more edgy, detailed, and delves even deeper into the world of BDSM, and yet I could not put the book down… at all. There are some fairly extreme aspects, elements that are not run of the mill and so in this respect I will give a gentle warning. For some people it could well cause some squeamishness, but to be honest, I was still fully engaged. Between Angel and Kael it all works; it’s who they are individually as well as together. It’s not a facet that had me dwelling on what it is; Ms. Alexander makes it a beautiful expression of their feelings and their needs. And I was wholly caught up in the tale.
I think a big part of the attraction—actually attraction is much too tame to describe the extreme sizzle between Kael and Angel—is how meeting Angel completely changed Kael’s life, in just about every way possible. Having a ring-side seat to these developments was fascinating. There is something about being privy to what’s going on in Kael’s mind and heart; can you say intense?
And lest you think that this is all that there is to the story, let me tell you that the suspense relating to Kael’s career choice is also quite intense. All in all, Ms. Alexander did a masterful job of combining all the, rather diverse, elements into one cohesive and thrilling whole.
If you are a fan of the BDSM genre, I highly recommend Fyn Alexander’s Angel and the Assassin. Truly, I cannot fathom that a fan of the genre would not be as captivated as I was. And I will go even further: for those who have ever wondered about the lifestyle—at least fictionally—then in the context of a sexier than hell romance I think that this will appeal to a wide section of readers; I really do.

Assassin’s Pride, Book One: The Cat’s Meow
By Stormy Glenn
Reviewed by Droogie
This is a story that pulled me in from the very first page where innocence meets ruthlessness, and didn’t back down.
Noah Anderson’s OCD style of order in his life drew me towards him in an instant. His compassion and understanding of how things were made my heart tug just that little bit more in his direction.
Gage Tynan is a bad arse and knows he is a bad arse… he sees what has to be done and knows exactly what to do until now. Everything he has ever known about how to take out a target is thrown out the window when Noah Anderson steps into his life.
Ms Glenn has written this story beautifully, this is a story that I am sure will be on many people’s re read lists
Noah’s antics as he faces the knowledge that he is about to cease to exist at the hands of the strange but attractive Gage tell the true story of how kind he really is. He is ok with the dying as long as Gage keeps his promise to take care of his cat Precious.
I found it intriguing watching Gage’s life slowly turn around as he realised that he is not the scariest thing out there. I loved how Noah slowly dragged Gage into the place where Gage was now the protector and not the killer.
Ms Glenn showed that by standing together Noah and Gage were stronger than if they faced their problems alone… By putting aside their initial conflict they banded together to help each other through their own demons.
Gages knowledge that he was meant for better things was an amazing storyline to follow as his understanding of what was happening came to life he manned up and took control… proving not only to himself but us as readers that when fighting for what’s right you have to dig a little deeper… even when what you are fighting for turns out to be a little different and a lot more complicated then what he first thought.
I thoroughly enjoyed this book and I know that you will too, I can’t wait for the next instalment in this series. I will end with my favourite lines of this story.
“Okay, what should I do now?” Noah asked, his voice sounding low and shaky. “How is this done? Are you gonna shoot me or stab me or something else? What would be easiest for you?”

Book Description: Being in the wrong place at the wrong time is not always a bad thing…
Noah Anderson is odd and he knows it. He has a strong obsessive compulsive disorder that keeps him organized but distances him from the world around him. He doesn’t have any friends, family, or even a lover. He’s never had a lover.
When he finds himself in the wrong place at the right time, Noah discovers that the dangers posed by having sex for the first time pale in comparison to having sex with the assassin that comes to kill him, even if it means his life.
Gage Tynan is a killer. It’s what he’s always been. And he excelled at his job until he jumped into the car of a passing motorist when his latest mission goes wrong. The man driving is so odd that Gage suspects he might have been sent to harm him. Gage has no idea that the little man that asks him to take his cat will change his life in ways he has no clue of.
Gage is dragged into a world of shifters and exiled kings, one where his strength will be called upon to keep Noah safe from the pride soldiers sent to keep him from taking the throne.

Breathe by Sloan Parker
Reviewed by Theresa
I became quite the fan of Sloan Parker with the release of her first novel, More, which had me totally captivated, so reading Breathe was a must. I can tell you that Ms. Parker has grabbed my attention yet again. Breathe is a bittersweet novel that had me in tears. I will admit the story started out a bit slow for me—the first chapter or two didn’t draw me in as quickly as I might have liked—but it was well worth it to keep turning the pages. I was soon sitting on the edge of my seat, wondering what would happen next. I haven’t read too many books that kept me guessing until the very end but Ms. Parker did just that. Breathe is full of mystery, suspense and hot sex. And fair warning, Breathe is full-box-of-Kleenex type of story.

By Your Side by Willa Okati
Reviewed by Kathy K.
Willa Okati’s By Your Side is magic. There’s something very appealing to the romantic in me that Roman, even at the age of eighteen, knew he loved Matthieu; that this is the man he’s in love with. But then if there’s one thing I could tell about this young man is he really knows his own mind. He recognizes in Matthieu that someone so many people long for; he’s also not shy about making the first move. I think that this is testament to his ability to know people; he certainly understands what is going on in the older man’s head.
Matthieu is, surprisingly to me, somewhat harder to pin down. I do understand his reluctance to stay with Roman; he really cannot believe that someone so young can be so sure of what he wants. There’s also an element, not of fear per se, but of self-protection in his actions. His feelings for Roman already are entrenched in his heart but he’s not ready to open himself up to the possibility of rejection.
The story spans seven years, but in one large leap. And I like that not only is it Roman and Matthieu who must come to terms with the separation, but Matthieu had also stayed away from the only family he has left, his sister and her husband. But it’s her need that brings him back to the lake, and back into the orbit of Roman.
Once again Willa Okati brings to her readers a sweet and very touching tale that satisfies not only the romantic, but also fans of hot and sexy man-on-man lovin’; what a treat!

Book Description: Seven years ago, during a sultry summer by a lake, Matthieu fell in love with a man fifteen years his junior. Intelligent, passionate and talented, Roman swore he wanted nothing more than to settle down with Matthieu for the rest of his life. Matthieu couldn’t let that happen. The way he saw it, Roman had too much talent to waste with a small life and small dreams. He tried to do the right thing by severing all ties with the young man who commanded his passion, hoping that one day Roman would forgive and forget him.
That was never going to happen.
Roman has always known exactly who and what he wants — who he loves. Now that he’s found Matthieu again, Roman’s willing to do anything it takes to prove it. He’ll use his body, his music, and all his wiles to show the older man that their love is as real as their passion, and that they are meant to be together. Matthieu isn’t easily convinced, but Roman isn’t easily bested. He’s never been good at taking “no” for an answer — especially when he knows his partner well enough to be sure what he really wants to say is yes, yes, yes.

The Geography Of Murder by P.A. Brown
Reviewed by Eve
P. A. Brown has penned a riveting whodunit in The Geography Of Murder. The characters are solid, complex and intriguing. Written in first-person, balancing back and forth between the two primary protagonists, this book quickly had me simply reading it for the pleasure of finding out what happened next, and forgetting I was reviewing it.
The author doles out oodles of rich detail that never bog the story down. I especially loved the descriptions of the marine settings, and the inside view of a homicide detective’s world.
Ms. Brown’s voice is terrific and the pace of the story never faltered. She definitely has a winner with The Geography Of Murder.

Desert Run by Marshall Thornton
Reviewed by Kathy K.
I’ve been long awaiting an opportunity to read one of Marshall Thornton’s books and when Desert Run became available I snapped it up. I am very happy I did so because the book was much, much more than I hoped. What a rush!
There’s an edge to Desert Run that I hadn’t really expected, which is rather odd when you think about it—there are mobsters out for vengeance for cryin’ out loud! Maybe it’s that it didn’t come from the direction I had thought it would. What this says to me is that Mr Thornton has a rather serpentine mind. But whatever it is, suffice it to say that I was totally enthralled throughout the book. And while I was glad that book was only 189 pages—so I could read it quicker—I was also sad when I came to the end. Well, not sad, just feeling as though I’d had to leave a good friend sooner than I would have wanted to.
The characters, especially Don and Harlan, were awesome. Don was rather an enigma, understandably so, especially in light of later events. From the very beginning I couldn’t get a reading on him, on who he was, what he wanted. And even though we were told a bit about him in the blurb, I just couldn’t find that in him. I like mysteries and Don is very much that. The way that Mr. Thornton draws his personality out as the story progresses is very nicely done. And it makes perfect sense; Don’s been hiding who he is for a long time.
Harlan is adorable! Well, he’s more than that ‘cause he is a man grown, but there’s an innocence vying with cynicism in this young man… and that’s enough to tick me off. Not that it’s there, but that Harlan has had to develop it. I think that the contradiction in Harlan what Don responds to, probably because he lost a lot of his innocence too at a young age, but for different reasons. Even so, I think it’s this initial connection that Don feels that is the key to him opening up to the attraction that he has for Harlan.
Desert Run is a fantastic story and one that I will enjoy again. I’ve also made a note to move up the reading queue Marshall Thornton’s Nick Nowak mysteries that are in my TBR. After finally discovering the wonderful storytelling of the author, I’m now thinking two things: Why did it take me so long!?! And I hope that he has a very long backlist!

Blood Pond by D.J. Manly
Reviewed by Kevin
When I am looking for a book to read, there are usually 2 or 3 things that I look for. The first is main characters that I can truly invest in. The best stories for me have main characters that I could find myself knowing I would like if they were real. The second is a romantic plot. The romance can either be the main plot point, or many times I enjoy reading stories that are mysteries or suspense, with the romance playing out in the background. Blood Pond by D. J. Manly delivers on all of these points in spades.
August is our grieving hero. He has been hunting for 10 years for the one man whom he thinks can provide him with answers to the murder of his younger brother. The story of his tracking down Bruce, and the two of them facing the demons they each have carried for 10 years makes for riveting reading. There is mystery and suspense as August and Bruce attempt to determine who and why August’s brother was killed. There are even several plot twists that kept me guessing up to the very end. This is a book that I will find myself reading over and over again. For anyone that likes a good mystery read, I couldn’t recommend a better choice.

The Immortals by Victor J. Banis
Reviewed by Kathy K.
The Immortals is not quite the story I expected…at least not going by title alone. But having read it I have to say that I really like the way that the story and title fit.
After having read the story description I had an idea of how the book would end, and I was right…mostly. But it was the journey that really makes this more than just a romance, and far more than is alluded to in the blurb. The main focus I found was the growth in Jason’s character and I enjoyed the way that Mr. Banis works it. But, as usual, Mr. Banis has a surprise lurking in the wings and I found myself feeling things for Peter that I hadn’t expected. For me, at least, he wasn’t just a negligible character; there was something there that had me caring for him and, frankly, that startled me. I had just assumed that it would be Jason and Alders who would garner all my attention.
Like many stories by Victor Banis that I’ve read, the treasure inside is wrapped in plain brown paper. It may not look like much, but upon opening you realise just how intricately it is wrought. And so is his latest offering, The Immortals.
