I was very much looking forward to Hank’s story. I was very curious to see how Claire was going to redeem what by the end of Wicked Hearts seemed to me an utterly unredeemable character. Hank was one of those characters you really love to hate.  So with that said, I did approach Safe In His Arms with a bit of trepidation but by the end was so in love with not just Russell but Hank as well.

I admit to having the niggling feeling that Hank caved a bit to quickly to Russell’s dominate nature. I think maybe I just wanted him to suffer just a bit more in the very beginning. I’ve been told I have a blood thirsty nature and well, Hank was a real bastard in Wicked Hearts. But I thought that the trials Hank went through not only redeemed but humanized Hank. It was not an easy journey for either Hank or Russell but by the end of the story I felt both were better for it.

There is so much more I want to say but I’m afraid to give to much of the story away so I will end by saying that Safe In His Arms is an excellent sequel and one I highly recommend, but you definitely need to read Wicked Hearts first to get the full effect of the story.

I don’t read much het romance these days and I was going to give Heart of Submission a pass. It didn’t scream at me at first, but I do read Claire Thompson so I picked it up. I have to say it is a definite winner!

One of the most romantic BDSM novels I have read, the relationship between Chase and Kate was heartwarming and the dynamics of the D’s relationship between the two was beautiful. I often find myself very uncomfortable reading an m/f BDSM book but I had none of those feelings reading Heart of Submission. This story shows a loving D’s relationship at its finest. I was so enthralled; I didn’t want to put the book down.

For those of you who love BDSM novels, I can tell you that Heart of Submission is a must read and for those not sure BDSM novels are for you, Heart of Submission would be a great starting point. Claire Thompson knows how to write a D’s relationship that leaves you wanting more.

Thursday we spent running around taking care of last minute things for the weekend shopping for goodies for the goodie bags and then we spent the evening stuffing those goodie bags, the nicest treat of Thursday was getting to meet Susie who is just as sweet in person as she is on line and finally meeting Sunny aka Lynn Cash/Cash Cole she is a riot, Sunny and I are new friends and I hope we get to be old friends.

As the evening started to close down and some headed to their rooms, I took Sunny back to Carol’s house she was Dudley sitting for the weekend. When I came back I went to say goodnight to Theresa A. and Claire Thompson who were roommates and perfect for each other as they were early to bed and early to rise ladies and then I headed down to Carol’s room where the party had moved after the cookout was over. Silver had broke out her computer (did I mention is short and cute and when I say short I do meant short I’m 5 foot flat and Silver is shorter than me so the Silverpixies is an apt name for our little Silver – I wuv you Silver – lol) Silver had broke out her computer and was sharing her wealth of sexy men with J.P., Todd and the ladies, so to say I could hear them before I even turned the corner to Carol’s hall is an understatement but they were having fun I asked if Silver’s computer was overheating and was told no but J.P. was J LMAO but just in case Phil is reading this J.P. was being a really good boy I promise After this the conversation kind of went downhill but what do you expect when you stick that many woman in one room not even the presence of Todd and J.P. could make us behave of course they weren’t really trying to steer the conversation into a more appropriate direction. The party finally split up and we all headed to our own rooms.

Jamiee was supposed to room with Kimberly but at the last minute Kimberly couldn’t make it so I became Jamiee’s new roommate which enabled my being able to stalk the front desk waiting for Amanda, Her and Husband John arrived at 10:30. Amanda invited me to go get something to eat with her and her husband I asked Jamiee if she wanted to go with us but she decided to head off to bed and I went up to meet Amanda and her husband and after a grabbing a bite at Burger King we headed back to their room where we chatted for awhile John is a great husband, he is very supportive of Amanda in her career and that makes him tops in my book!

I finally had to head to bed all three of us were tired and the day was going to start early for us, Author Jenna Byrnes and Bobbie Russell arrived Saturday I had been talking to Jenna via e-mail for awhile I wanted to get a signed copy of her two Cattle Valley stories for my mother, she was very sweet I hope I get to meet her again next year!

Saturday was pretty loose until noon when we all headed over to The Fork and Spoon the coolest theater I have ever been to with reclining chairs tables and our very own waiter who took our orders and delivered our food I ordered popcorn and Jr. Mints (although there were lots of choices but I kept mine simple I knew there was barbeque on the menu later in the evening) the popcorn was delivered in a very large nice bowl with butter on the side so I sat back enjoyed my popcorn and The Proposal with Sandra Bullock and Ryan Reynolds it was an extremely funny and enjoyable movie you get to see sexy Ryan hot and sweaty without a shirt on that was worth the whole price of admission but the movie was very good if you haven’t seen it yet put it on your list.

That evening we all drove over to Carol’s where dinner was catered by a local BBQ place in Olathe and we again sat around eating and talking , we had an even larger group Saturday as lots of other people arrived Saturday morning.

We had lots of prizes to give away that evening. The first prize was a computer bag full of books from most all the authors that were there and a gift certificate for Spa finders and Amanda Kelly was the lucky winner of that loot, lots of print books were given away by all the authors Amanda Kelly won another small tote with books from Lyn Cash/ Cash Cole and other small goodies (Way to go Amanda have you managed to come down form that high yet? lol) Todd won a gift certificate to TEB and Kate Sinks won the gift certificate to ARe my name was drawn first but sadly I had to pass that one up I’m sure Lori James from ARe would have thought it a bit funny had I won the gift certificate I asked her to donate *shucks* Theresa A. had won a few of the print books being given away and she also won the small pedicure gift bag and yes I did win something and I couldn’t be happier I got a Microsoft 2007 Office Home and Student addition Yay I can now do tract changes and leave notes when I beta read!! Thank you to the wonderful person who donated those I wish I could remember your nameL There were two of these but in my excitement I can’t remember who won the other one.

After all the prizes were given away we again paired off into groups. I got to know J.P. better I really wanted to pack him up and bring him home with me but I’m sure his partner Phil might have objected when J.P. didn’t return home and I’ve been informed the claiming and keeping of authors only works only works in the cyber world but I really enjoyed talking with J.P. learning more about the authors I read is always enjoyable to me I teased Claire and J.P. saying I was going to bronze my car seats and sell my car on eBay saying J.P. Bowie and Claire Thompson rode in my car *squee* (Just kidding guys, my fan girl moment over with). As we headed back to the hotel that night everyone was following me and this gave John Amanda’s husband the laugh for the day as I said yes I know where I’m going everyone can follow me and the first thing I do is miss a turn but in my defense it was my passengers fault they distracted me talk of old tv shows that is my story and I’m sticking to it!

Most of us headed off to our own rooms when we got back to the hotel but some of us gathered out on the patio for awhile and then a few us went back to Jamiee and my room for awhile, but most had to leave early the next day so we called it a night. Sunday was filled with more running getting people things back to Carol’s house and other people off to the airport and bus stations. After this was done Kaenar wanted to go to Kansas Sampler for postcards and other Kansas souvenirs and Best Buy where she bought one of the mini computers the toy top on my Christmas list *waah* we had a nice time even if I did manage to receive my second ouch for the vacation I tripped in a rather large dip in the curb and scraped my leg up and bruised the other I already had an ingrown toenail that had been giving me fits all weekend so this was insult to injury I have never been able to go on a vacation of any kind no matter how long or short and come out of it unscathed I’m cursed I tell you cursed.

The weekend was over and it was in my opinion a awesome success, it was fun and informal more personal and I think that was what made it so much fun, I was very glad I got to go it was so much fun – I finally headed back to my sisters later that evening because my dad was driving into town and my sister was cooking dinner (but that is a different story – lol) I did make it back over to Carol’s Tuesday night for a short visit and to reassure Kaenar that I would be back early the next morning to take Kaenar to the airport one of my birthday gifts was a Garmin GPS navigator it made the trip to and from the airport very painless so I got to enjoy the last of my time with Kaenar and not worry about if I was making the right turns here and there.

I hope I get to meet everyone again next year and hopefully some new faces too.

Submission Times Two once again Claire Thompson tests the bounds of my comfort zone and comes out the winner. Of course this was m/m/m so of course I was going to read it no doubt about it, and all I can say is wow, extremely hot and in my opinion sweet, but not for the faint of heart. This isn’t by any stretch of the imagination Light BDSM, but not what I’d call hard core either. It will definitely test the bounds of your acceptance. But still when it comes down to the end this is a romance and a very good one at that!!
