Flame of Destiny by Colleen Helme

Flame of Destiny reminds me of a sci-fi action adventure story with a hint of romance. Don’t get me wrong I absolutely enjoyed this story. It had drama, blood, gore, excitement, betrayal, jealousy, strength, determination, and love. The only thing I would have liked is some sort of physical sexual contact. To me it would have been the icing on the cake.
The character that stood out in my mind the most was Elite Guard Rafe. In the day Rafe is one of the top men of the Elite Guard who is sworn to uphold the laws and protection of the kingdom, and by night a ring leader of a small organization of thieves. He plays a double agent well until he realizes that he was set up. Rafe not only betrays Callista but also somehow wins back her respect and undying loyalty. It must be the whole double agent good guy bad guy thing.
Helme has done a great job with Flame of Destiny and I look forward to her next book.
